How we work

No mystery. Here is exactly what happens.

Engaging a consultancy is usually an act of faith. It should not be. This page sets out the stages, what we need from you, what you receive at each point, how we price, and the things we will not do — before you speak to us.

The engagement, stage by stage

  1. 010–20 minutes

    Snapshot or first conversation

Most people start with the Growth Economics Snapshot, which shows where the biggest commercial lever sits before you speak to anyone. If you would rather talk, a 30-minute call covers the situation and whether a diagnostic is the right next step.

    From you

    • Your time, or a few numbers
    • No commitment

    From us

    • An honest view on fit
    • A first hypothesis on the constraint
  2. 023–5 days

    Scoping and access

We agree the scope, the questions the diagnostic must answer, and who we speak to. You complete a secure structured intake, and we request read-only access to analytics, ad platforms, ecommerce or CRM data, and reporting.

    From you

    • Structured intake completed
    • Read-only data access
    • Two or three internal contacts

    From us

    • Written scope and questions
    • Secure intake portal
    • Access checklist and data handling terms
  3. 033–4 weeks

    Diagnostic

Seven-stage analysis across demand, discovery, acquisition, conversion, retention, measurement and capability. We rebuild your commercial model so a customer, not a session, is the unit of analysis, and interview the people closest to the work.

    From you

    • Two or three interviews
    • Answers to follow-up questions

    From us

    • Independent analysis across all seven stages
    • Rebuilt customer-level economics
    • Mid-point checkpoint so nothing lands as a surprise
  4. 041 session plus documentation

    Findings and Opportunity Stack

A working session with your leadership team: what the constraint actually is, the evidence, and a prioritised Opportunity Stack ranked by commercial impact and effort. Everything is framed as stop, fix, scale or test.

    From you

    • Leadership in the room
    • Decisions on priority

    From us

    • Findings document
    • Prioritised Opportunity Stack
    • 90-day plan you can run without us
  5. 05Your call

    Decide how far we go

The diagnostic is deliberately standalone. You can take the plan and run it internally, use it to brief your agencies, run a 90-Day Growth Sprint with us, go deeper on one capability, or bring us in as an embedded senior layer.

    From you

    • A plan you own outright
    • No lock-in

    From us

    • A clear recommendation, including 'no further work needed'

How we behave

  • Independent of channels

We do not sell media, build websites, or take agency commission. There is no incentive for us to recommend more spend, and no channel we are quietly protecting.

  • Senior only

The people who scope the work do the work. No junior delivery layer, no account manager relaying analysis they did not run.

  • Evidence before recommendation

Every recommendation is traceable to something in your data or your team's experience. If the evidence is thin, we say so and treat it as a test rather than a certainty.

  • Comfortable saying stop

The most valuable diagnostic output is often the investment you avoid. We will tell you when the answer is to do less, or that you do not need us.

  • Your plan, your ownership

Findings, models and plans are yours. Nothing is held back to force a follow-on engagement, and we work happily alongside your existing agencies.

  • Discreet by default

Client names are anonymised in everything we publish. Data access is read-only wherever possible, and revoked on completion.

What we will not do

Independence is only credible if the boundaries are written down. These are ours.

  • Take media commission or channel kickbacks
  • Recommend spend increases without evidence of incrementality
  • Replace your agencies to sell you delivery hours
  • Hand over a deck with no owner, metric or sequence attached
  • Publish your name, numbers or logo without written permission

Pricing and commitment

Fixed scope

The diagnostic is a fixed-fee, fixed-scope piece of work agreed in writing before we start. No day-rate creep, no open-ended retainer to get to an answer.

No lock-in

Nothing obliges you to a sprint, programme or embedded engagement afterwards. Ongoing work runs on a rolling monthly basis with a short notice period.

Fit first

We work best with businesses investing roughly £500k or more a year in marketing. If that is not you yet, we will say so rather than take the work.

Questions people ask before engaging

How long does a Growth Diagnostic take?
Three to four weeks from access being granted to the findings session. Scoping usually adds three to five days before that.
What access do you need?
Read-only access to analytics, ad platforms, your ecommerce platform or CRM, and existing reporting. We work with what exists rather than asking you to build new reporting first.
Will you work alongside our existing agencies?
Yes, and it is the normal case. We are independent of channel delivery, so our role is to set the priorities the agencies then execute against. We also work white-label on behalf of agencies.
How much internal time does it need?
A structured intake, two or three interviews, and answers to follow-up questions. Typically a few hours across the whole engagement per person involved.
What if the diagnostic says we do not need you?
Then that is the finding, and we will say it plainly. The diagnostic is priced as a standalone piece of work precisely so that outcome is possible.
Is anything we share made public?
No. Clients are anonymised by default in every story or benchmark we publish, and we only name a business with written permission.

Start where it costs you nothing.
